Research + Moodboard

The first Motion Design project at the NFTS was to create a minute long animation on a poem, which was picked from a selection of poems.

When researching I put together a moodboard of illustrative graphics mainly with a 1940s aesthetic.

Storyboarding

I decided early on this piece was going to be entirely 2D and character driven while also keeping an element of surrealism. I had been looking at video games which have a character travelling through otherworldly landscapes and used this as inspiration for the storyboard.

Animation

I decided on the colour scheme and built the assets in Illustrator before importing everything into After Effects for animation.
